How to Calculate Hours and Minutes Between Two Times

Let's walk through a simple example.

Example:

  • Start Time: 9:25 AM
  • End Time: 7:45 PM

Step 1: Convert to 24-hour format

  • 9:25 AM = 09:25
  • 7:45 PM = 19:45

Step 2: Subtract

19:45 - 09:25

  • Hours: 19 - 9 = 10
  • Minutes: 45 - 25 = 20

Total = 10 hours 20 minutes

If you take a 45-minute lunch break, the final total will be 9 hours and 35 minutes.
